Installation

From source

Prerequisites

• Rust 1.83+ — Install via rustup
• Bun — Required for the web dashboard (install via bun.sh)

Build

git clone https://github.com/semicentric/neptune.git
cd neptune
cargo build --release

The binary is at target/release/neptune. Copy it to your PATH:

sudo cp target/release/neptune /usr/local/bin/

Verify

neptune --version

Docker

Neptune ships with Docker Compose for the full stack (API server + web dashboard):

cd docker
docker compose up --build

This starts the API on port 9090 and the web dashboard on port 3000.

Development setup

For local development with hot-reload on both backend and frontend:

bun run dev

This runs cargo run -- serve and bun run --cwd web dev concurrently.

Backend only

cargo build
cargo test
bun run dev:api

Frontend only

bun run dev:web
